Spa Overheating
When a spa overheats, it’s usually due to excessive pump run time. Firstly, check filtration run time isn’t too long (eg. 20hrs) Setting filtration run time
Next, ensure TYPE value is set to match the controller model. As an incorrect TYPE value can force pumps to run excessively.
If a jet pump is stuck on, even after toggling the related pump button to OFF on the touchpad, you may have a latched pump relay on your spa controller’s circuit board. With a jet pump running continuously, you’ll find the spa will overheat. A pump relay can latch if the spa is subject to a power event such as a low mains voltage brownout, power outage or extreme weather conditions that put extra load on the electricity grid. Performing a software reset is a good place to start, then we recommend rapidly pressing the related pump button in quick succession. This will send the ON/OFF signal to the relay multiple times which could free it from its latched state. Failing this, you’ll need to engage a local spa technician to replace the Power PCB.
On new installs DIP Switches located on the brain PCB also determine pump configuration. These will be set to suit your spa model during production. However, when retrofitting or replacing equipment refer to DIP switches explained For retrofitted controllers, it’s also worth checking that the circulation & jet pump has been plugged into the correct socket. Plugging a Circ or jet pump into the 230V socket, will force it to run continuously & the spa will overheat.
